ID card scanner

Front and back of an ID card, in one pass.

The IDSnap 850DX captures both sides of an ID card or driving licence and reads supported document data in a single action. It is built for busy desks and embedded workflows where speed, consistency and a compact footprint matter.

Two sides captured together

The IDSnap 850DX uses upper and lower contact-image sensors to capture the front and back of an ID-1 card in a single pass. Operators do not need to scan, flip and rescan the credential, helping each transaction move faster while producing a consistent pair of images.

  • Fast duplex scanning

Front-and-back imaging and supported ID reading complete in under three seconds, with image scanning operating below 85 mm per second.

  • Less document handling

One presentation captures the portrait side and the reverse side, including the PDF417 barcode used on many North American driving licences.

  • Compact deployment

At 14 × 8.5 × 4.5 cm, the scanner fits busy staffed counters and can also be incorporated into self-service terminals.

  • Operational safeguards

Manual and power-failure card ejection help staff recover a credential if a transaction, workstation or power source is interrupted.

Designed to keep the line moving

Built for high-throughput identity workflows

The 850DX combines a short operator action with a repeatable software-controlled result. That makes it well suited to desks and kiosks where staff need to process many cards without adding a separate front-and-back capture step.

  1. 01

    Present the card once

The operator inserts one ID-1 credential; upper and lower sensors capture both sides as it passes through the scanner.

  2. 02

    Read images and supported data

With the appropriate software, the workflow can read supported machine-readable zones and decode PDF417, QR Code, Data Matrix, Aztec, MaxiCode and common 1D barcodes.

  3. 03

Return the result to the host application

The application receives the paired card images and available structured data for registration, onboarding, access control or another business process.

By reducing flips, rescans and manual transcription, the 850DX helps create a faster and more consistent experience at busy identity-capture points.
