ID card scanner

Both sides of an ID card, and its magnetic stripe.

The IDSnap 960CDX combines duplex ID-card capture with visible, ultraviolet and infrared imaging and an integrated three-track magnetic stripe reader. It is designed for workflows that need more physical-document evidence than visible-light capture alone.

Document reading and authentication results are delivered by APX-Verify. Capability follows the licence, not the device: the checks described on this page require the corresponding APX-Verify licence.

More evidence from every card

The IDSnap 960CDX combines two-sided card capture, three illumination modes and magnetic-stripe reading in one compact device. That gives the host workflow multiple sources of evidence from a single ID-1 credential instead of relying only on the visible front image.

  • Duplex capture

Capture the front and back in one action, reducing card handling while preserving information printed or encoded on either side.

  • Visible, UV and IR images

Produce separate views under normal, ultraviolet and infrared light for data capture, visual review and software-assisted inspection.

  • Three-track magnetic stripe

Read ISO 7811 magnetic-stripe data when it is present on a supported driving licence, ID or registration card.

  • Purpose-built for ID-1 cards

Designed for driving licences and supported identification cards. The 960CDX does not accept passport books.

See beyond ordinary light

Why visible, UV and IR images matter

A document can look correct in normal light while important inks, patterns or security responses remain hidden. Capturing separate visible, ultraviolet and infrared views gives the software and reviewer a broader evidence set.

  1. 01

    Visible image

Supports OCR, barcode processing, portrait review and comparison with the expected document layout and printed fields.

  2. 02

    Ultraviolet response

Reveals supported fluorescent inks, patterns and security artwork designed to appear under ultraviolet illumination.

  3. 03

    Infrared response

Helps expose supported material and ink behavior that can differ from the document's ordinary visible appearance.

When paired with the corresponding APX-Verify licence, these images give the authentication engine more evidence to evaluate. The scanner supplies the captured views; the enabled software tests determine the result.
